About

Welcome.

Z.O.G. is a name I chose as it sounded vaguely like a Bulgarian secret police. For those of you who are familiar with Steve Jackson Games’ Illuminati this is probably funny. For the rest of you, fnord.

It is also, as I subsequently found out, an abbreviation for the Zionist Occupational Government, an early-1900s imaginary world Jewish banking conspiracy, on par with the Protocols of the Elders of Zion for antisemitism. And credibility. This from me, shabbes goy extraordinaire.

It is also the name of King Zog of Albania. I find Albania hilarious. And rutabagas. And Swiss men’s fashion.

This site is intended to be neither artistic nor informative, but rather as random and odd as I can manage for you, casual browser.  You’ll find links and random stuff related to whatever I happen to find interesting at any given point in time. I am a dilettante, interested in old motorcycles, guns, classical music, jeet kune do, digital privacy and electronic rights, military history, cats, kendo/kenjutsu, graphic art, food, economics, sailboats, photography, abandoned buildings, travel, and astronomy.  I’m not passionate about any of them,  nor particularly good, just interested.  As R. A. Heinlein wrote, specialization is for insects.

After all, what good is it having eclectic tastes if you can’t share them with people?

Regardless, zog.net is strictly for fun.  It is not for sale, nor am I interested in your advertisements or commercial links.  Unless I have otherwise specified, all content created by me and accessible via http/https on zog.net is covered by the Creative Commons BY+SA+NC license.  That means, anybody can use anything I create for this site as long as I get credit, any content you make out of mine must have the same license, and you only get to use my content for non-commercial purposes, unless you have my permission.  All unoriginal, external content is used without permission, but attributed whenever possible.  Please let me know if any content/images are your property and you would like me to credit you or remove them.  Nice, polite requests will always be honored, while nastygrams from honored members of the legal profession are not.

I’ve kept it simple and low-key, for your increased viewing pleasure–reading text is so much more mentally stimulating than watching hundreds of online images zip their way across the ether…

…so…

…very…

…quickly…

And I’m really lazy.
